From the desk of Dr. Kevin, MD

“Bread with a PhD is still a bread.”

Hello, Scalpelheads.

Dr. Kevin here.

And today… we’re going to talk about how people accidentally ruin their health while thinking they’re being “healthy.”

Yeah. You.

Because nothing screams peak human intelligence like force-feeding yourself water, snacking every 20 minutes, and trusting a multivitamin made in a factory that also produces regret.

Let’s fix that.

1. Stop eating like it’s a hobby

Groundbreaking concept:
Eat when you’re hungry. Don’t eat when you’re not.

I know. Revolutionary.

Most people don’t eat because they’re hungry. They eat because:

  • it’s “time”

  • they’re bored

  • or the fridge whispered their name

Your body is not a Netflix subscription. It doesn’t need constant content.

2. Hydration ≠ drowning yourself

You’ve been told to drink water like you’re prepping for a desert marathon.

Wrong.

Drink when you’re thirsty. That’s it.

Overhydrating can dilute your electrolytes, especially sodium, and ironically make you feel worse. Yes, you can literally drink yourself into feeling like garbage.

Also… “structured water from the sun”?
Relax, Einstein. Just drink fluids consistently and stop overcomplicating hydration.

3. Snacking is your silent villain

If I had to pick ONE habit destroying your health…

It’s snacking.

Every time you snack:

  • insulin spikes

  • fat burning shuts off

  • your metabolism gets confused like your ex in a relationship

Cut snacks → massive improvement.
No fancy diet required.

4. Intermittent fasting isn’t magic… but it’s close

Your body wasn’t designed to eat every 2 hours like a toddler at a birthday party.

When you don’t eat:

  • your body repairs itself

  • cleans up damaged cells

  • regulates metabolism

It’s called not constantly stuffing your face. Try it.

5. Carbs are sneaky little devils

“Oh I don’t eat sugar.”

Cool. But you’re eating:

  • bread

  • pasta

  • cereal

  • “healthy snacks”

Which all turn into… sugar.

Read labels.
Carbs matter more than you think.

6. The blood test your doctor forgot

Want to prevent diabetes BEFORE it happens?

Check fasting insulin.

Not just glucose.

Insulin goes up YEARS before diabetes shows up.
But nobody checks it. Because… reasons.

7. Vitamin D & magnesium: the power couple

Vitamin D isn’t just a “vitamin.”
It’s basically a hormone bossing around your entire body.

And magnesium?

That’s the assistant cleaning up the chaos:

  • helps muscles relax

  • supports nerves

  • keeps calcium from turning your body into a cramp simulator

Most people are low in both.

Shocking. Not really.

8. Potassium = chill pill for your body

You need a LOT of potassium.

Like… way more than you think.

It:

  • lowers blood pressure

  • supports your heart

  • calms your nervous system

Basically turns you from “stressed raccoon” into “functioning adult.”

9. Multivitamins: expensive disappointment

Most multivitamins are:

  • synthetic

  • low quality

  • borderline useless

If your vitamin sounds like it came from a chemistry lab… it probably did.

Get quality or don’t bother.

Now personally, I don’t just throw random pills into my body and hope for enlightenment. For example, if I’m supporting things like dopamine production and mental performance, I focus on nutrients that actually make sense:

  • Vitamin B6

  • Vitamin B12

  • Folate

  • Tyrosine

  • Phenylalanine

You know… things your brain actually uses instead of decorative rainbow capsules.

And for those of you who are going to ask anyway, yes -- this is the supplement I personally take.

10. Your gut is still traumatized

If you’ve taken antibiotics in the past…

Congrats. Your gut microbiome probably got nuked.

Yes, some bacteria come back.
No, not all of them.

Rebuilding your gut with proper nutrition or probiotics can be a game changer.

11. Overtraining = hormonal sabotage

More gym ≠ more gains.

Overtraining:

  • kills testosterone

  • increases inflammation

  • drains energy

If your workouts feel like punishment… your body agrees.

12. Red meat isn’t your enemy

Despite what TikTok “nutrition experts” say…

Red meat is:

  • nutrient-dense

  • high-quality protein

  • great for energy

Your body likes protein. Feed it properly.

13. Iron supplements: handle with care

Iron doesn’t leave your body easily.

Meaning:
You can overload it.

Unless you actually need it, don’t just take it like candy.
Food sources > random pills.

14. Aging ≠ just fat

If you’re over 50 and things feel… softer…

That’s not always fat. It’s muscle loss (atrophy).

Fix it with:

  • resistance training

  • proper nutrition

  • magnesium

Not starvation diets.

15. Your water might be… questionable

Tap water can contain:

  • chemicals

  • contaminants

  • things you don’t want to pronounce

A decent filter?
Not a luxury. A smart move.

Final thoughts (aka I’m yelling gently)

Most health problems aren’t mysterious.

They’re just:

  • bad habits

  • repeated consistently

  • with confidence

Fix the basics… and your body does the rest.

Your turn, Scalpelheads

Reply to this and tell me:

  • How many of these are you actually doing?

  • Which one exposed you the hardest?

  • And what’s YOUR best health tip?

Let’s compare notes.

Because nothing’s more entertaining than watching people realize…
they’ve been doing everything wrong.
